The Pakistani government has recently launched the E-Sahulat platform, aimed at providing a convenient and efficient method for passport applicants to monitor their application status. By simply having their CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card) on hand, individuals can now avail the benefits of online tracking. This digital solution has greatly alleviated the previous challenges faced by applicants who had to physically visit passport centers. - Open the official DGIP website and register yourself as a user.
- Click on the Online Passport Tracking System which will take you to the tracking portal.
- Now enter the 11-digit tracking code/token number below and click the search button.
- The complete updated status of your passport will be displayed immediately.
This free-of-cost service can be used 3 times per day by a logged-in user. Remember that through this service, applicants can only check a Machine Readable Passport (MRP) status which has been processed within the last 3 months.
Step-by-Step Process of Getting Passports in Pakistan
Step 1 – Customer Service Counter
- Upon arrival, proceed to the customer service counter at the Regional Passport Office.
- Carefully follow all instructions provided at the respective booths.
Step 2 – Token Counter + Taking Photograph
- Present the original CNIC/Smart-Card/NICOP or Children Registration Certificate (CRC) along with its copies and the Bank Chalan Form.
- This applies to individuals below 18 years of age.
- A camera operator will capture your photograph.
- A token will be issued to you.
Step 3 – Biometric Data Capture (Finger Prints)
- Once your token is called, proceed to the Biometric Counter.
- The Data Entry Operator (DEO) will capture the impressions of your right thumb, right index finger, left thumb, and left index finger.
Step 4 – Data Entry
- When your token number is displayed, go to the Data Entry Counters.
- The Data Entry Operator will input all necessary information about you, with the data entry screen visible to you.
- Follow the guidance of the Data Entry Operator for any changes needed.
- Verify all details by signing the Data Entry Form.
- Receive a duplicate token from the data entry counter.
- Note: Once the Assistant Director approves your data, no further changes will be allowed.
Step 5 – Verification as per Office Record (ECL/BL)
- Verification against office records will be carried out, including checks against the Exit Control List (ECL) and Black List (BL).
Step 6 – Interview & Decision by Assistant Director
- When your token is called at the Assistant Director’s counter, bring along all original documents.
- For applicants under 18 years old, the Assistant Director may delay the process and provide a printed form for photograph attestation by a Class 1 Government officer.
- Once the attested data form is submitted, the deferred token will be allowed to move forward.
Passport Delivery Time (Collection of Passport)
- After successful completion of the above stages, you will be given:
- 10 working days to collect your passport for a normal passport.
- 4 working days to collect your passport for an urgent passport.
Note: Passports dispatched from the Headquarters for delivery to the applicants within the prescribed processing period could be tracked through SMS & Online Passport Tracking System.
- Allow some shipment time for passports to reach their destination, i.e., respective Regional Passport Office (RPO) or Foreign Mission (FM).
